Barrett Hileman

Barrett Hileman, performing in Square Cat Entertainment's, in association with Aurora Nova Productions, production of Nassim Soleimanpour's acclaimed show: White Rabbit Red Rabbit.

Barrett Hileman is a Calgary-based multidisciplinary theatre artist, performer, administrator, and educator. Square Cat debut. Recent acting credits include JJ in Halo (Fire Exit Theatre), Don Walker in the Rosie-nominated short film Carl’s Way (Smoke Signal Media) and King Alonso in The Tempest (Suspension of Disbelief). Many years ago, Barrett got very sunburned playing a raging Yankees fan in Kevin Costner’s For Love of the Game. Selected directing highlights: State of Presence (Corps Bara Dance Theatre); the Critter-nominated Badger (Theatre BSMT and FET); A Savannah Disputation and A Number (FET); Agnes of God and The Making of Warriors (theatre@rocky). From 2005-2015, Barrett was on the directing team (including Lead Director) of The Canadian Badlands Passion Play. He spent seven years as the Artistic Director of Spread the Word Theatre (directing 14 dinner theatre tours across Canada), and was a founding Board Member of Calgary’s Fire Exit Theatre. In New York, he assistant directed the Off-Broadway production of The Witch of Edmonton.

MFA: New School for Drama. Acting training: American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Current Projects/Upcoming: director of Shadowlands (Hit and Myth/FET), director/dramaturg of Tied in Knots (Burnt Thicket Theatre), playwright for the 2016-2021Canadian Badlands Passion Play. Barrett is the Director of Theatre at Ambrose University.
